Pro-life advocates in Anchorage and Soldotna are set to join nationally-coordinated efforts to protest pharmacies that have agreed to dispense chemical abortion pills.

Walgreens has agreed to distribute the deadly drug, mifepristone, which effectively starves an unborn baby.

The Biden administration recently gave approval for pharmacies across the nation to distribute the deadly drug, mifepristone, which effectively starves an unborn baby. Previously the drug could only offered by medical offices, clinics and hospitals, or by a licensed physician who could directly supervise its effects on a pregnant woman’s health.

Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid have all agreed to provide the abortion pill in their stores.

Walgreens has 11 Alaska locations in Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Fairbanks, Soldotna. CVS has storefronts in Anchorage and Wasilla.

On Feb. 4, protests will take place outside Walgreens locations in Anchorage and Soldotna.

The Anchorage rally runs from noon to 2 p.m. outside the Walgreens on Lake Otis and Tudor. Some signs will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well. Organizers are providing pro-life handouts and hot cocoa for those who take part. Additional resources are available here.

In Soldotna, longtime pro-life advocate Toby Burke, of Kenai, is organizing a protest outside the Walgreens located near the “Y” in Soldotna. This gathering kicks off at 1 p.m.

“We will be encouraging would-be patrons to boycott Walgreens and let their management know how dismayed we are with their profiting from the death of innocents and their quest to become the Kenai Peninsula’s largest abortionist,” Burke explained in a notice sent out to pro-life advocates. “The abortion pill is bloody, brutal, and barbaric (watch “Unplanned” movie). This latest protest is an opportunity to stand for life and let Walgreens know that we as a community will not support baby-killing businesses.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring signs.

Similar protest will occur the same day outside pharmacies across the nation.

“Soon, pharmacies across the country will effectively become abortion facilities,” said Eric Scheidler, director of the national Pro-Life Action League, in a recent email to pro-lifers across the nation. “That’s why on Saturday, February 4th — together with our friends at the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) — we’re calling for a day of protest at CVS and Walgreens stores all over the United States.”

Nationally, chemical abortions now comprise roughly half of all U.S. abortions. Alaska reported 442 chemical abortions using mifepristone in 2021, according to the Department of Health, and this is likely to increase under the new the Biden Administration rules.

  • Neil DeWitt says:

In my opinion MUDER is bad enough then to Starve the baby to dead is another. This pill needs to be taken off the market.

  • Laurie says:

Thanks for the alert. I’ll be patronizing my local CVS and Walgreens tomorrow.

  • DaveMaxwell says:

I’ll bet Dunleavy won’t get near this.

  • Ed Martin Jr says:

    Thank you LOVERS OF LIFE!

  • Citizenkane says:

Laurie, such a cute name! But such an UGLY, heart.

  • Maureen Suttman says:

If you don’t want an abortion-don’t have one.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Maureen, if you want an abortion, have it on your own dollar instead of forcing taxpayers to pay for it.

  • Hans Litten says:

It would be interesting to know how many of the radical pro-lifers who comment here have a friend, family member, wife, girlfriend, daughter, or granddaughter who have availed themselves of this service. For sure, it’s not zero. Please don’t try to impose your risable religious beliefs on those of us who don’t subscribe to them. SAFE LEGAL RARE.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Hans, just as I said to Maureen, if you want an abortion, have it on your own dollar instead of forcing taxpayers to pay for it. That is first and foremost because I believe that there are people who will have an abortion even if 99% of the people around them disfavor abortions. Why are those in favor of having abortions imposing their atheistic or demonic beliefs on those of us who don’t subscribe to them?

      • Amie Rothschild says:

Federal law does not allow federal funds to be used to pay for abortions, except when the pregnancy resulted from rape or incest or causes a life-endangering condition for the woman.

Find a new lie to peddle.

  • Jeff Reitter says:

Maybe include the following in your article to help pregnant women they may also kill the mother.
“A drug used to end early pregnancies. It is also being studied in the treatment of some types of cancer and other conditions. RU 486 blocks the action of progesterone, a hormone that helps some cancers grow. It is a type of antiprogesterone. Also called Mifeprex and mifepristone.”

  • Not Really says:

Well, prayer givers; how’d it go? You prayed. Has abortion been erased? Were you successful?

    • Friend of Humanity says:

We are successful in several aspects. First, people are waking up to the culling going on. Second, our Father in Heaven who is the Creator of ALL creation hears our prayers and knows that our hearts ache for all of those unborn children. Third, Those children’s souls belong to our Father in Heaven and no one can take those souls away from the Creator of ALL creation; man (or whatever these destroyers are) can destroy the body, but not the soul.

    This is promising news!
