The grassroots effort to repeal Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system is off and running. Alaskans for Honest Elections is spearheading the effort with signing events all across the state, including last week’s kick-off event in Anchorage where more than 400 people turned out.

The current goal is to gather far more than the needed 26,000 signatures to put the question to voters in 2024. If you want to see the state restore party primaries and its traditional, historic voting system, here are the upcoming signature gathering events. To learn more, click here.

I see there are non in Eagle River or Anchorage. Is this smart or do they know Anchorage is all for Rigged Choice Voting?

    • Lobo says:

I have an email notice regarding the votes, and a link to the signing events. It shows Anchorage having two, and Eagle River having one. One may be able to go to the link, and find ,more information.. But, “it’s my understanding” that those opposing the signature campaign, can’t sign to oppose, and it’s simply a vote to end the RCV mess.. https://www.alaskansforhonestelections.com/map-of-signing-events … This one shows the location, and date in Anchorage, and at the bottom, a contact link… I hope it gets an overwhelming response of support.

    • Elizabeth Henry says:

There was one in Anchorage last week and I have heard there will be more. Maybe not posted yet?

      • Lobo says:

I think I saw the upcoming events in Anchorage in one of the links above …

      • Friend of Humanity says:

Another signing event has been created for Anchorage, but I don’t see it on their website yet. An email from the email admin at Alaskans for Honest Elections stated the following in a 2/22/23 email: “Anchorage!!! Sign The Petition!!! February 25th – 10am-8pm … 2511 Sentry Drive Main Auditorium” “We can’t do it without you ”
Please pass this information on! 2/25/2023 at 2511 Sentry Drive, Anchorage, AK (S. on Lake Otis, just pass Abbott Lp) from 10am – 8pm!

    • Heidi Poeschel says:

Hmmm. I’m surprised this isn’t going on in Anchorage
      If not why not

  • DaveMaxwell says:

I’m happy this is occurring!!!! BUT:::::: please let us not forget our recent past! Mike pacarro the radio host in the afternoons on keni who presents himself to be the conservative of conservatives!!! He owns an advertising agency that he contracted with the murkowski campaign for a large sum of money to promote RCV ! Now this same Mike pacarro still is advocating that the RCV system is not at fault, but the ignorant/divided people are to blame!!
This is get the money and watch the system burn to the ground, and blame the citizens!

    • Elizabeth Henry says:

I am pretty sure Mike Pizarro is now not favorable toward the rigged choice voting. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has already signed the petition.

      • DaveMaxwell says:

Because theinformation provided us revealing his promotion of RCV, and the enrichment of himself at the citizens expense!!!

    • Heidi Poeschel says:

      RINO PROPAGANDA

  • DaveMaxwell says:

Next it’s imperative that Kelly Tshibaka be taken to task for not revealing what she investigated regarding the division of elections!!! All the citizens can get is a 90% redacted form! Ask Mike shower, he has it! When leaders are more concerned to oblige the system than they are the people and their best interest, this is known as leading without paying a price!!!! Compare the ongoing cost President Trump has and continues to pay! We must be willing to incur the pain, suffering, and yes cost if our leadership will equate to anything more than mimicking thousands of others who simply go along to get along while flipping their gibs the whole way!!!

  • Friend of Humanity says:

Thank you for sharing this information Joel!

  • no no says:

Had Tshibaka won, this anti RCV effort would not exist. Y’all’d be praising the fairness of it. In other words: you’re sore losers.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Lol “no no”. You are such a hoot! No matter who won, the People of Alaska would still be looking to get rid of the rigged voting system because it is not a fair system.

      • Lobo says:

I agree, FOH .. It is a “rigged” system .. Of course, liberals, democrats think it’s just “fair”.

    • Lobo says:

“The fairness” of what ? There are several states that have already gotten rid of the “Rigged Choice Voting” Scheme.. More in the works .. They woke up. Also, it’s the only way that Murkowski retained her seat after losing the primary..

    • Heidi Poeschel says:

      It’s vote manipulation
      Regardless of who won
      Not acceptable
      Signed
      Native Alaskan

    • Linda says:

No, No .. ranked voting is a dishonest way for the low dogs/socialists/communists/left wingers to get people in office to destroy our country as they have been doing for the last couple years … no wonder they are teaching our children are being taught garbage instead of real education

  • Hans Litten says:

You hate it until it works in your favor. Then you love it.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

So, you hated it Hans Litten? But, since your candidates got cheated in you love the system right?

  • Arctic Blast says:

Anybody that believes that the RCV Ballot measure received more votes in total than were cast for Biden & Trump combined and it wasn’t rigged is somewhat lacking in intellect. The other issue of RCV is that once the votes slide to second choices then there is absolutely no accountability of the result and it can be what ever they want it to be.

  • John Whitmer says:

In over 90% of RCV elections the candidate with the most first place votes (plurality) eventually won the election – RCV rarely changes the winners. RCV isn’t about changing winners, it’s largely about changing incentives and ensuring a lesser disconnect between winners and voters. I’ve heard that in Alaska’s last election in only a very few races would the outcome have differed depending on whether RCV or plurality voting had been used, and the two general election results most discussed (the two Alaska Congressional races) were not among them. In those two cases the RCV (actual) winner would also have been the plurality winner. So the arguments by the losers in those two Congressional races that RCV did them in are weak. And did I hear that the very few races where the outcomes might have been affected by RCV favored Republicans? If so, probably coincidental, but at least the Democratic losers could complain without appearing ridiculous.

    • M.John says:

I’m guessing that’s what cousin Gretch in Michigan thinks about it, too.

    • Lobo says:

I recommend putting the bottle, and pipe down .. Kinda helps the neurons communicate more proficiently.

I am believing more and more that some of these trolls are using ChatGPT to come up with something that looks readable, but still full of lies.

  • Doug glenn says:

Off subject here but it would be awesome if you backed up to 2021 stories in Ak free press and went on the attack. Almost everything they were slamming you for has turned around and hit them in the face. It’s time to go on the offensive people. The libs try to brush off the nonsense they spew. History is not in their favor.

  • micah6v8 says:

    Ty for this information.

  • Independent Observer says:

Keep in mind that these signatures will have to be verified for residency, which is a large hurdle. It is good that this effort is being made at this time of the year when there are fewer tourists. I was visiting Kalifornskya a couple years ago when they were trying to recall Newscum, and they found that they had nearly 1/4 of the signatures were from outside the state. I was approached at every grocery store I entered to sign the petition and even after I told them I was from out of state, they didn’t seem to care. Also, multiple signings are a headache.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Pretty sure Alaskans can come up with several data analysts willing to volunteer their time and verify residency, since Alaskans have had analysts working on 2020 data integrity projects.
