A newly released poll by Morning Consultant places Gov. Mike Dunleavy as the seventh most popular governor in America.
Conducted April 1 to June 30, the poll asked 380 registered Alaska voters what they thought of Dunleavy. A total of 62% said they approved of his work, while 28% disapproved and 10% said they “don’t know” or “have no opinion.”
While most of the polling from other states had a margin of error of plus or minus 1%, Alaska’s margin of error was plus or minus 5%.
Overall, seven of the 10 most popular governors in the country are Republicans.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who launched his presidential campaign in late May, saw his home-state approval rating fall slightly between the first and second quarters of 2023, the poll stated. Most Florida voters (54%) still approve of his job performance, but those who disapprove increased from 38% to 42%, driven in part by a slight drop in sentiment among Florida Republicans.
For the third quarter running, Vermont Gov. Phil Scott was the most popular U.S. governor, earning approval from 76% of voters. He is followed by Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon (69% approval).
America’s most disliked governor, according to Morning Report’s poll is Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. The Democrat has a disapproval rating of 44%. He is followed by fellow Democrat Jay Inslee, of Washington, who had a disapproval rating of 43%.
