More humans died from abortion than from any other individual cause of death in 2022. Globally, more than 70 million pre-born babies were killed through abortion that year, with Alaska adding 1,246 abortion deaths.

Compiled by Worldometers, the global abortion data comes from governments and organizations around the world. The organization notes that there are roughly 66,000 abortions performed each day, based off figures from the World Health Organization, which estimates that, “around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year.”

When contrasting abortion to other leading causes of death, such as cancer (10 million), smoking (6.2 million) HIV/AIDS (2 million), disease (17 million) and others, abortions far outnumbered every other category in 2022.

That goes for Covid as well, which the WHO claims accounted for less than 7 million deaths over the past three years combined.

Alaska reported 5,701 total resident deaths in 2022, with the leading causes being cancers (1,060), heart disease (990) accidents (547) and Covid (265).

America averages roughly 1 million abortions each year. Alaska’s average is about 1,550, but both of those rates have been dropping over the past decade. Nevertheless, abortion remains leading cause of death both nationally and in Alaska.

Since 2003, Alaska has suffered roughly 32,000 abortions, or about 4.4% of the current state population.

There is a bill stuck in the Senate judiciary Committee titled Senate Joint Resolution No 2 which proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska and would read as follows: “To protect human life, nothing in this Constitution may be construed to secure or protect a right to an abortion or require the State to fund an Abortion. ” To get the bill out of the Judiciary Committee, citizens of Alaska should contact the Judiciary committee and urge them to hold a hearing.

How can this be? Our governor is “pro life”! Naively Alaskans believed this habitual liar named dunleavy, and the fruit of his crap is what we’re left with! Are we done believing him yet ? If so do something about it!

  • Chuck Anziulewicz says:

Trump’s three Supreme Court appointees swore up and down about how Roe v. Wade was “precedent” and “settled law,” blah blah blah. Indeed, they could have just left things be. Instead, as soon as they had the opportunity, they overturned it. The resulting mess is a patchwork of different levels of abortion availability depending on the state. Suddenly women in red states have found themselves losing a BIG measure of their self-determination in ways that men have frame of reference for. After all, women aren’t interfering with MEN’S reproductive choices. Women simply aren’t going down without a fight.

    • Proud Alaskan says:

Chuck, all men and women will stand at the feet of God to plead there case. Read the Bible, it will tell you what His ruling will be.
Stop the killing, yes both men and women you made that choice. Now you need to live with it. It’s time to raise your son or daughter. Love them Bess them and your life will never be the same.
Right, your life would not be the same either Chuck if your Mother aborted you.

murderous women….dont leave that out chuckles….

      • Chuck Anziulewicz says:

And when you think that any and all women who choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy …. are nothing more that cold-blooded, premeditated murderers, it says a LOT about your perception of role of women in public life.

    • Sally Duncan says:

No matter how you slice it, abortion is murder pure and simple and NO ONE has the right to take a life unless being threatened by said life. An unborn child is not a threat. Get real and get a conscience!

      • jon says:

You all love to take care of a fetus, but once it is born you don’t give a sh*t. 15 Republican governors refused money that would feed poor children durin g the summer. Disgusting!

So execute them first? Maybe your Mom ought to have done that.

  • DJC says:

Joel again ignores the only bill in the legislature that currently has a chance of passing and which will not be immediately challenged, and thrown out by the courts, as unconstitutional. HB107 defines life as beginning at conception. Shouldn’t we start at the beginning and lay a foundation to move the state in the direction we want? Or should we just continue to bludgeon pro-life legislators with a bill that has no possibility of passing as demonstrated by 6 years of trying.

    The definition of insanity…..

    • Jeriah says:

If the corrupt judges throw out HB205, then the innocent blood spilled will be on their shoulders. What’s important is that the legislators do not compromise or dance around child sacrifice. They need to take an uncompromising stand for the truth and let the chips fall.

The bible says life begins at the first BREATH

  • micah says:

Next time you or someone you come across thinks we live in enlightened times remind them of this. We are among the worst of the worst in history. If you can’t handle that truth you are weak. If it inspires you to become part of the change to end this holocaust then thank you.

FOLLOW THE MONEY AND YOU WILL REALIZE THE AGENDA… ITS BIBLICLE.

  • Clark says:

Problem is abortion doesn’t cause human deaths. Other than the extremely rare cases where severe complications cause the death of the pregnant patient. Abortion does stop the development of a potential human life though. Which is why nobody is happy that they have to be done. Its funny seeing people who claim to be constitutionalists trying trample personal freedom and women’s rights, all in the name of protecting potential lives. But I don’t see them lining up trying to make masturbation a crime or to ban ‘pulling out’. Those actions stop hundreds, maybe thousands of times more potential human lives than abortions ever have.

Fetuses that arent born have no birthday. No citizenship. They’ve never taken a breath of air. They’ve never existed except as a part of the pregnant patient. They have never eaten, they have never pooped. Humans have an age. A country of citizenship. A date of birth. They breathe air. They poop. They eat.

    • Jake Libbey says:

This is the most tired and ridiculous trope that was ever presented on the bloody altar of convenience. Is it passing through the birth canal that conveys humanity Clark? You do know babies eat and pee in the womb? Most are born before they start passing solid stools in the womb, but pooping in the womb is very common. The idea that a baby isn’t human until Clark randomly assigns it humanity is as sad as it is laughable. All of the methods that prevent conception from happening are so completely different from the termination of a life once begun that words fall short. Life begins at conception for every scientist that works with human embryos. They call them embryologists, and whether or not they support the killing of babies before they are born, they are in fact lives. Human lives. I appreciate you articulating for everyone who reads and doesn’t comment, exactly how absurd your arbitrary conveyance of humanity is. A pregnant mother killed by a drunk driver results in charges of two human deaths, those cases are apparently ALL wrong for Lord Clark. Or is humanity now conveyed with subjective INTENTION? What if intentions change? What if circumstances change? Your definitions fall down immediately upon any scrutiny and you beclown yourself with your total ignorance of life in the womb. This isn’t about preventing pregnancies from happening, it’s about not destroying actual helpless lives AFTER they have been created. 99% of which is simply because taking responsibility for gratuitous hookup culture amounts to inconvenient timing… and 63 MILLION+ deaths since just 1973 are the result. Clark and the devil apparently laugh together at that one, but those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear, weep for the loss of innocent life.

Fortunately, some are not in our ICUs .

      • No says:

No the idea that life begins at conception and is accepted as fact by scientists is not true. It must be pointed out that the concept of “life begins at conception” is neither scientific nor a part of any (ancient) traditional religious teaching. The writers of the bible (as well as other religious texts) knew nothing about eggs, sperm, or fertilization. It was only after medical science revealed the basic steps in embryonic development in the mid-20th century that some religious groups seized on the idea that human life must therefore “begin” at fertilization. The idea was made up by religious leaders, who intentionally chose to interpret the events of early development to suit their preconceived ideas and who then started preaching this dictum as fact. Why not just say that this is a matter of faith? It seems quite obvious that this is done entirely to avoid having to answer why one person’s religion is being used to control someone else’s behavior and individual freedom.

      • Friend of Humanity says:

This is addressed to the troll who calls themselves “No”. If a sperm does not meet an egg to fertilize it, it dies. If an egg does not get fertilized by a sperm it dies. If a sperm fertilizes an egg, a new life begins. Thus, life begins at conception. Scientific fact.

      • Lobo says:

In response to No; I recommend a little research.. As for the scientist’s, and their “views” on the beginning of life, your blanket statements are not based upon facts… https://www.princeton.edu/~prolife/articles/wdhbb.html, … Read this one slowly-> https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36629778/ … Regarding scientific consensus; … https://www.swarthmore.edu/news-events/when-does-personhood-begin .. There is no scientific consensus amongst “all” of the scientists .. Many of the answers you will find, will be based upon the positions on abortion, but an overwhelming majority of Biologists, who are also scientists, by the way, disagree with you position. Their PHDs are awarded with the studies of life, and the concepts of all related environments.. The Bible also disagrees with you,.. but,.. whether or not you believe the Bible is a personal choice for you, and I refuse to argue on that subject.. In summation; you can find plenty of articles which agree with you,.. but you can also find plenty of documents, which disagree with you.. But, notice the identities of the sources… I also recommend using a less biased search engine then GOOGLE.

      • Marlene says:

Clark and the others on here who support abortion will be judged by God and God does not sanction killing an unborn or born human. Satan has a lot of room for these people and it won’t be a vacation.

      • jon says:

But you can’t claim a fetus on your tax forms. Covid payouts did not go to a fetus. Does the permanent fund send payouts to fetuses – NO. They are not children except in your eyes,

  • RK says:

We need to support the only bill that would completely and consistently make abortion illegal in Alaska—The Life at Conception Act (HB205). It is unjust for us to continue to pursue compromise or make attempts to regulate how and when someone can murder their preborn child, which is exactly what we’ll get with well-meaning “pro-life” bills. We don’t need to adjust our constitution, that’s a distraction. The “right to life” is already in there. Life applies to all human life already. We just need to demand equal protection for the preborn under the laws that already protect the life of you or me. It’s not complicated. It’s a matter of whether or not we are bold and faithful enough to actually stand for true justice. You can sign the petition in support of the bill here: https://alaskarighttolife.org/life-after-roe/

If a fetus is a human with all attendant rights: can I marry a fetus, charge it with speeding, use it as a second passenger in the HOV lane, apply for benefits, enroll it at Liberty University?

    • Proud Alaskan says:

      Lucinda,You are one SICK individual.
Ok you you get in an accident and the women is pregnant, and she’s killed. Yes you are liable for two deaths-life’s. Yes it’s human with a heart beat, God given.

      • Lucinda says:

Yeah, I don’t think so. Drop your bible. Then troubleshoot a mechanical problem, find volcanic ash in your backyard, have an IPA, call your daughter. Your god gets in the way of reason. It’s a bummer. I want my fellow citizens to be able to make rational judgements based on evidence and reason, not a belief in angels and demons and ghosts.

And it pisses me off that you think I’m “one SICK individual”. During my entire adult life I’ve given more than I’ve taken. This week I’ve volunteered with three local non-profits. Is that SICK Proud Alaskan?

  • Coliseum in the Snow says:

    “For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my informed substance, and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:13-15.

I delivered a baby who did not live beyond week 8 gestation, and one who died at 14 weeks gestation. I held both in my hand. The First baby was about the size of a lima bean and I could see his eyes and arm and leg buds attached to his tiny frame. The second baby was incredible to behold: his face was formed -closed eyes, nose, chin, mouth- his fingers and toes were visible, I could see his rib cage through his translucent skin, and the muscles developing on his arms and legs. I could see with my own eyes that he was a boy, so we gave him a boy’s name.

Ya’ll can play word salad all you want. It won’t change reality. Just because you can’t see tiny persons while they’re in the womb doesn’t mean they’re not human persons.
