The Alaska Republican Party will request a statewide recount and review of the election results for Ballot Measure 2, which sought to repeal Alaska’s controversial ranked choice voting system.

The effort appears to have narrowly failed by a margin of 50.1% to 49.9% – a margin of just 664 votes out of more than 340,000 votes.

On Nov. 30, the state will certify the election results, and that will trigger a recount effort by the GOP.

“We will submit this request, along with the names of the requisite Alaskan voters required to initiate this process, once the election is certified,” Chairman of the Alaska Republican Party Carmela Warfield announced. “Together with our partners at the Republican National Committee, the Alaska Republican Party has assembled a team to oversee this process. We have engaged the Dhillon Law Group, led by Harmeet K. Dhillon, to be on the ground during the recount and review, along with our Party Counsel and observers.”

Dhillon and her firm are a nationally recognized, seasoned election integrity legal team who bring vast experience and knowledge to the recount process.

“Ms. Dhillon is an expert in election law,” Warfield noted. “She and her colleagues Michael Columbo and Mark Meuser were recently on the legal teams in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and other crucial locations nationally to ensure a fair, transparent, and thorough process. Our Party Counsel, Ms. Stacey Stone and her team, are experienced Alaskan election law practitioners, and in September 2024, they successfully intervened on the Alaska Republican Party’s behalf in the case of Alaska Democratic Party v. State of Alaska Division of Elections, ultimately prevailing in the Alaska Supreme Court.”

IF THIS “ACCOUNTABILITY EFFORT ” ISN’T TREATED LIKE A CRIME SCENE, IE DEMAND A FORENSIC AUDIT, THE WHOLE THING IS JUST ANOTHER FRAUD!

  • David Jones says:

The nasty old party is grasping at straws again. Their efforts are merely to oust Murkowski in the next election. Tsk, Tsk! Always crying “Fraud, election steal.”

  • Toscano says:

David: Mayor Daley of Chicago would certainly agree with you.

  • Debi Kirchner says:

I’m thankful someone is doing something about this. There is something wrong when it takes so long to get the results in and something more wrong when the numbers showed differently up until the very last day.

It’s hard for me to believe everyone i spoke with was against RCV ing. How did they get 50.1% to pass it? I’d call for a recount too. Only problem is how many ballots have been tampered with now?

I for one would like to know the names of the individuals whose identify was hacked and if anything was done to correct that invasion of my privacy. Is someone using that incident to change my vote or vote for me? Might that whole situation be at the root of our potential election fraud? That needs to be addressed before Princess Lisa comes up for another install.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Maybe that happened as a distraction so that we all would not be hollering about the number of illegals that were hurriedly made citizens and allowed to vote in our election. Remember how the sample ballots were that came out? Sure looked like some sort of directions on how to vote imho.

The problem with a recount is the chain of custody has already been compromised. The only way to find out the ground truth is to have a complete audit of the system to ensure the integrity of the votes. #1 Question should be how many of the 113,000 registered voters who’s voting information was compromised and cast votes on the Ballot initiative but did not vote on any of the others on the ballot.

This is the problem with Rank Choice Voting. The delays allow for cheating. Yes this should be treated as very serious in the recount. You just can’t trust the system anymore. I’m happy the result was narrow, allowing the recount. I lived in Alaska for 37 years but left in 2000. Ended up in Idaho in 2003 and have been here since. RCV was on our ballot and voted down by a large percentage because we educated the people on the process and deception. I do believe this is the only reason Murkowski (The Rino Republican Senator) was voted in. She votes and supports the Democratic Party. Get her out of there when the time comes!

  • Joe says:

With the state legislature firmly in the hands of the Communist Democrats, they can effectively over ride any veto by the governor. As such, they could mandate RCV by a simple, legislative bill, and there would be nothing the governor could do about it. Sadly, Alaska is turning a hard blue/left, just like Colorado, and it is disheartening to see.

The saddest part was all the lies about primary voting that the supporters of ranked choice put out. The BIGGEST was you couldn’t vote in a primary with out deciding your party ahead of time– total lie- i have been listed as undecided for very many years and have always been able to vote in primaries.
