U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski is in the news again. Once more she threatened to leave the Republican party and caucus with the Democrats. We have heard her make this threat before, and it is getting a bit tiresome. When I listened to what she said in her TV interview this past weekend, all I could think of was an ex-girlfriend who broke up with me, but first wanted to tell me every little thing I did wrong in the relationship before she left. That is the vibe I’m getting from Senator Murkowski.

She just threatened for the umpteenth time that she may become an Independent and caucus with the Democrats, with whom she aligns on many issues. At this point, you have to wonder what she is trying to gain from this statement. If Murkowski believes that she will gain influence with the voters back home by threatening to join the Democrats, it won’t do her much good. She already has the support of the Dems in Alaska, and the Republicans up here don’t care for her that much. Alaska Republicans have voted to censure our senior senator on more than one occasion. Most Alaskan voters are well aware that Lisa Murkowski is a weak RINO and have long ago formed their opinions on her. Murkowski’s recent statement sounds like nothing more than a three-year-old who threatens to hold her breath until her parents give her a cookie. Nobody in Alaska takes her seriously anymore.

Maybe it isn’t the voters back home she is concerned about. Perhaps Murkowski makes this statement periodically to influence GOP politicians in Washington, D.C., as she tries to gain influence within her party. However, I doubt this will have much impact on them either. The Republicans hold the majority in the Senate by three seats, and they must also be getting tired of Murkowski’s often-repeated threat. If Murkowski defects to the dark side, the Republicans will still have the majority. The only consequence of Murkowski becoming an Independent will be that Princess Lisa will lose all her committee assignments. She knows that without the “R” behind her name, she will become a political pariah and have no effective power in the Senate. Lisa should talk to former Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema about how becoming an Independent worked out for her political career.

Should our dear Lisa choose to renounce her membership in the GOP, just to make a political point, she will prove to everyone that she is a fool. Something that many in Alaska are already aware of. Murkowski is aware of the ramifications of this decision. However, she may dislike President Trump so much that she would rather squander her influence and what remains of her political career to make a point that she doesn’t align with the president. If so, she reminds me of the old Groucho Marx joke, where he resigned from a club he had joined, saying, “Please accept my resignation. I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.”

Republicans defecting to join with Democrats has a long tradition here in Alaska. Weak liberal politicians pretend to be Republicans to win elections and then govern from the left. During the last session of our state legislature, seven members from the Benedict Arnold wing of the Republican Party defected from their Republican peers. Seeking to advance themselves politically, they formed a governing caucus with Democrats, ceding control of the legislature to them. RINOs in Alaska have been doing stuff like this for years, and Lisa might as well join the political traitors club.

There is only one thing our dear Senator should remember. There is an unstoppable political uprising happening in this country, and it is also happening here in Alaska. Normal, everyday Alaskan voters who might not have paid much attention to politics in the past are starting to do so now. The MAGA movement, or patriotic Americans, or whatever you want to call them, are waking up, and they don’t like what they see from our current crop of politicians.

Feckless individuals like Lisa Murkowski, who act in their own self-interest and disregard the wishes of their constituents, will start to lose reelection, and it won’t matter if they have a long seniority in Washington or the support of powerful outside interests who want to keep the deep state in power.

If Senator Murkowski doesn’t want to be a member of the Republican Party anymore, I say, don’t tell us why you’re leaving, just leave already!

The witch of the North is going to leave what? She wants anybody, somebody to beg her to stay in the republican party? So, hurry up and go and don’t let the door hit you in the butt. The whole state will put on a celebration!

    • Proud Alaskan says:

Yes, Alaska will be throwing the biggest Party ever, and with fireworks. Fun to be had by all.

  • Marlin Savage says:

She has never been a conservative. The pro-abortion, nepotistic appointed politician later got votes from democrats, RINOS, general liberals, and bought off Natives.

    • Aloysius D Helminski says:

My sentiments Exactly Mr Savage, I try to send repliies to her but end up swearing too much and my anger shows. I drove her Father around on the slope for Security when he was Gov, nice guy. She shamefully disgraces his name, but yah, she wouldn’t be there except for Nepotism, then lost the primary to Joe Miller and ran as a write In and won by buying off the Native voters by supplying them with wristbands with the correct spelling of “Murkowski”,. She is a Trump Hater, and even gives rhino a bad name.

      • Proud Alaskan says:

        Agree,
I’ve never voted for this loser and I’m a super voter, voting red.
Lisa you need to go now

      • Kay says:

except she didn’t “win”…she cheated by using the natives as per usual.

  • Harry says:

As they say, don’t let the door hit you were the sun don’t shine.

  • Irreconcilable Differences? says:

She’s like the embittered partner of a failed marriage that refuses to leave lest that partner have to live a lesser life than what she/he is accustomed to. Or because their partner does that thing with their tongue. Either way, they don’t have the actual courage to leave and start over in a new life. Maybe the GOP should just do what she can’t and kick her out (of the GOP caucus).

  • Steve says:

    She’s all talk and deceit.

  • Dee Cee says:

Everybody misinterprets those “threats.” She isn’t communicating a message to Alaska’s Republican base. She is communicating to the Democrat base. The message is, “I’m disrupting and undermining the Republican Party simply be being in it. That’s how I help to further the liberal agenda.” Skeptical Dems on that side of the line need to see her as their ally in all the things they collectively hate by policy: life, freedom, voting, economic independence, and most importantly CONSERVATIVES.

She wins the most brownie points among her voters (Dems) when they see her undermining the Republican Party.

Thats why the party should kick her out.

    REVOLUTION, REFORMATION, REVIVAL
    pray……………PREPARE………….PROCEED!!!
    read my lips lisa: LEAVE!

  • Gary Marian says:

Personally, I’ve had enough of her BS to last a life time! It’s time for her to go.

  • AK Bob says:

    Lisa just LEAVE the party.

  • Kay says:

she has always been a NARCISSIST…demanding attention all the time!
She doesn’t care about you, me or Alaska, or the nation….she cares about one thing HERSELF and all the attention she can possibly get.

  • Cos Costellano says:

I hate talking bad about people. Lisa Murkowski is the exception. Not much to say. It’s been said already in the comments above. Greg Sarber took the words right out of my mouth. Thanks Greg. By the way Greg, how does a practical realist conservative thinker live amongst the liberal farm animals in Homer.

  • Reggie Taylor says:

“…….. she threatened to leave the Republican party and caucus with the Democrats………”
She’s been doing it for years now, after doing so in the Alaska Legislature before Daddy elevated her to be Queen of Alaska. She’s also now exposed as a registered Democrat voter, despite being a registered elected official in the Republican Party. How you do that is questionable to me.
She shouldn’t leave the party. She should have be expelled years ago.

  • Taxpayer says:

Murkowski loves the attention. She no longer works for us as our Senator. She only works for Lisa. Why else would someone write a book? To make money for herself!

  • Steve Peterson says:

As others have noted, she plays to the Native population and to Democrats who have, and will, vote for her. Also, she craves the attention and will do anything to be noticed at the national level. I wish I could find positive things to say about her, but alas, there is nothing.

  • Sally Duncan says:

Ever so true! The Party has some rules to follow, but maybe that should happen this year. She doesn’t have the spine to just leave and leave us alone. it’s more fun for her to throw a temper tantrum (think terrible twos) over and over and over again to make sure the dems and natives who think she has the power to make a difference (good or bad) be proud of her disturbing personality. She gets the attention, which is her desire.

  • Penny Johnson says:

I don’t believe, in this highly charged political environment, that Lisa will succeed in the pandering, potluck, fence riding (that must really hurt) vote getting. It’s an inability to read the room & resolve conflicting political pursuits. Lisa IS the Liz Cheney of Alaska. Not a compliment by any stretch of the imagination.

  • John K Powers says:

Lisa has never been a conservative or republican. She panders to whoever will believe her BS and free-stuff proposals to anyone who barely is satisfied with just squeaking by in life. This city and state is going to crap, and voters are too lazy to get off their asses and vote! I blame the registered voters who don’t vote. Anchorage is going the way of L.A., Seattle, Portland and any other big city you can name. And the state is trending down the same path. Lazy voters who don’t vote, that’s who I blame for people like “ murcowsky”!

  • jon says:

you many not like her she did vote for the Big Bad Bill because someone put benefits for AK medicare recipients and crab captains. She took a bribe. I read that they later took the benefits for medicare recipients out of the bill.

  • Rich Eide says:

I don’t think we Republicans recognize when we’re being “dissed”.
