While abortion giants like Planned Parenthood would like voters to believe that most Alaskans are 100% pro-abortion, the company’s own polling data indicates otherwise.
In fact, even the majority of self-described “nonpartisans” and “moderates” in Alaska favor at least some restrictions on the killing of preborn babies.
Planned Parenthood commissioned a poll by Alaska Survey Research on May 14-17. Despite the fact that 90% of respondents identified as “nonpartisan,” “undeclared” or “moderate,” the vast majority opposed unlimited access to abortion.

Only 34.4% said abortion should be legal “in all cases,” while another 65.6% disagreed and favored some restrictions. The survey included 1,619 people, but only 159 identified as something other than nonpartisan, undeclared or moderate, which suggests that the findings would have been far more pro-life if more conservatives were included in the data.
In addition to the Planned Parenthood poll, a more recent survey from last month found that 70% of Alaskans favored prison time or major fines for abortionists who intentionally kill a viable preborn baby who could have survived outside the womb if allowed to be born. This included 57% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans. That survey was conducted by the left-leaning University of Maryland in July-August 2026.
National surveys show a similar pattern. The January 2026 Knights of Columbus–Marist Poll of 1,408 adults found that 64% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion and 57% would restrict elective abortion to the first three months. Only about one-third said abortion should be available with no limits at all.
Furthermore, the Marist survey also found majorities oppose using tax dollars to pay for abortions (as Alaska does through Denali KidCare); 63% say clinicians with religious objections should not be required to perform abortions; and 84% support pregnancy resource centers. On medication abortion, it found majority support for requiring an in-person visit before chemical abortion pills are dispensed.
These findings show that unrestricted abortion-on-demand is a minority position, both nationally and in Alaska. Despite these findings, Alaska has zero restrictions on abortion, and a preborn baby can be legally killed through all nine months, right up to the moment of birth.
Planned Parenthood favors this extreme position, and it is the largest provider of abortions in Alaska and across the nation.
On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood said it was “thrilled” to endorse Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins for governor of Alaska, calling him a “proven advocate” for abortion and LGBTQ2S+ “rights.”
The abortion giant said Kreiss-Tomkins was the “only choice to preserve and expand” what it coined, “reproductive freedom.”
By contrast, the three Republicans running for governor – Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson and Treg Taylor – all identify as “pro-life” and say they favor policies that would protect unborn babies and encourage pregnant women to choose life for their unborn child.
