Something very disturbing is unfolding the wake of George Floyd’s death. Protest marches demanding justice broke out across the nation – an understandable response when an unarmed man is degraded as he suffers and dies in the street. But this righteous indignation has been harnessed by opportunistic political activists for purposes that have little to do with racial justice for blacks. Hardened abortion activists, radical gay rights groups and anti-capital socialists are trying to co-opt Floyd’s death to further their agendas.
George Floyd’s death is not a partisan issue. It’s a problem for anyone with a conscience.
Earlier this week the largest abortion business in the country – Planned Parenthood – issued a statement claiming that Americans should use this moment to harness the power to “fight for reproductive freedom,” their euphemistic term for abortion on demand.
The abortion juggernaut claims that the “policing of Black bodies makes the promise of reproductive freedom unattainable. We need to examine how white supremacy of the past and present lives in the institutions we are a part of today.”

Planned Parenthood then urged people to donate to its political action arm.
Abortionists aren’t the only ones exploiting Floyd’s death for political gain.
MoveOn.org is a political action campaign that funnels money to support abortion, the LGBT agenda, extreme climate change policies and all things anti-Trump. They recently started a petition demanding that the officers who arrested George Floyd be charged with murder. If you read the fine print, however, each signature gives Move On permission to use the signer’s email to raise funds for their myriad progressive causes.
As reported by the Watchman this week, Marxist groups like the Anchorage chapter of the Socialist and Liberation Party are attempting to harness anger over Floyd’s death to further its ultimate aim of revolution against Capitalism.
They didn’t even attempt to hide their partisan politics, but shamelessly mongered for voters.
There’s also evidence that Democrats are using protest rallies to grow voter registration rolls. At protests across the nation savvy Democratic operatives have set up voter registration booths to harvest untapped younger voters who could help the party in November. Recent rallies in both Anchorage and Palmer included strategic voter registration booths set along the protest routes, and speakers encouraged young idealistic protesters to “be the change” and to “remember in November.”

George Floyd’s death is not a partisan issue. It’s a problem for anyone with a conscience. We can disagree on how to best address this injustice but hardened liberal operatives should be ashamed at using this tragedy to cash in politically.
