As we expected, the anti-gun zealots introduced their legislation in Juneau this month.

They’re aiming to take away your gun rights through gun-confiscation schemes like so called “Red-Flag” laws and the “Home-Invasion Incentive Act.”

Red-flag laws strip gun owners of their constitutional rights to keep and bear arms while violating several other fundamental constitutional rights, robbing them of their due process rights, and leaving them with almost no recourse.

It is a gun-grab scheme ripe for abuses as well as being blatantly unconstitutional.

It violates multiple articles in the Bill of Rights and will be used to deprive innocent people of their rights, victimizing them and making them more likely to be further victimized in the future.

This is the history of this law, as shown in every other state that has passed it or similar legislation.

This year, it was introduced as House Bill 162 in Juneau.

Also introduced, the “Home-Invasion Incentive Act,” gives criminals, thugs, and home invaders significant advantages when law-abiding owners lock away their firearms.

It would require that guns being stored or transported be in a locked container.

This adds an undue burden on a victim, who really can’t afford the extra seconds required under a high-stress situation, to try and manipulate a locked safe when their home is being invaded!

Enforcement of this law would make victims and criminals out of law-abiding gun owners; while giving criminals, thugs, and home invaders significant advantages when committing violent crime sprees.

This year, it was introduced as House Bill 164.

If you signed one of our petitions opposing Red-Flag gun confiscation, or the petition opposing the Home-Invasion Incentive Act, thank you!

By adding your voice to thousands of other voices, using your 1st Amendment right, you are helping to build a bulwark to protect your 2nd Amendment rights!

Alaska Gun Rights has been educating thousands of Alaskans on the dangers of these schemes, and with your continued support, we’ll continue mobilizing good people against the schemes of these gun-grabbers!

We’ll continue to keep you informed of these developments and opportunities to participate in defending our liberties.

I’m grateful for your help in this fight!

What I’d like to know is why are the liberals allowed to even write a bill like this and get away with it? The constitution I gave over twenty of my best years of life to defend says I can have a weapon and my rights won’t be infringed upon. This bill 162/164 goes against that and tgeir for I DEMAND the attorney General, the DOJ and anyone else in protecting my rights do their job and protect my rights. I also demand this bill is thrown out and not waste tax payers money talking on it. It’s illegal and goes against everyone’s constitutional right. Enough of this liberal crap. I have rights under the constitution and I demand they be enforced!

Literally, we have the 2nd Ammendment to rise up and confronts tyrants with arms – to defend our Liberties and Freedoms – by any means necessary

I got an email with a EMAIL address and example emails that you could copy and paste into an email to send off to our legislators.
      Email: housestate.affairs@akleg.gov
Here are a few examples you may cut and paste for your email,
      Dear Legislators,
I’m writing to oppose HB162. Please vote NO on HB162.
      Thanks,
      or
      Dear Sir or Ma’am,
Please vote NO on HB162. This bill is essentially a “pre crime bill” taking away our constitutional rights before a crime actually happens. That, in my opinion, violates our constitutional rights. Please allow the courts to do their job. If a crime is committed, that person will lose their rights as a felon. This bill removes the rights before someone has been convicted of a felony which is wrong! Please OPPOSE HB162.
      Thank you,
      or
      To Whom It May Concern,

I’m writing to ask you to vote NO on HB 162. I strongly disagree with the state developing and keeping a gun registry on its residents. When someone has a restraining order against them, the judge can order that the citizen not have access to guns. This allows due process and a court process. To permanently keep a registry on citizens without a court process and committing a felony proven by trial – it violates our constitutional rights.
      Please vote NO!
      Regards,

Thank you for this article Mr. McClure! We knew it was going to eventually hit Alaska and now it is here! I wonder if there will now be some “red flag” events to try to solidify this push like down in the states. What a clown world we live in now. HOUSE BILL NO. 164 Introduced by Representatives Ashley Carrick (D), Fairbanks District 35; Andrew Gray (D), Anchorage District 20; and Jennie Armstrong (D), Anchorage District 16. I hope that we are going to be hearing from our Republican Reps on this. Between Sen. Sullivan’s Restrict Act and this Anti-gun law, we’ll be marching into our interment camps in no time if these bills pass. Talk about being sold out by our representatives!

    • David Shoemaker says:

Thank you for calling out their names. Too many of us refer to these individuals as “They” rather than telling everybody exactly who they are and where they are coming from. Keep it up.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

I missed House Bill 162, which was introduced by Representatives Andy Josephson (D), Anchorage District 13 and Jennie Armstrong (D), Anchorage District 16. Please go read these bills!!!
“”An Act relating to gun violence protective orders; relating to the crime of violating a protective order; relating to a central registry for protective orders; relating to the powers of district judges and magistrates; amending Rules 4 and 65, Alaska Rules of Civil Procedure, and Rule 9, Alaska Rules of Administration; and providing for an effective date.””

  • Chuck Anziulewicz says:

The ability to own an arsenal of as MANY guns as you want, of whatever KIND you want, with no accountability whatsoever ….. doesn’t sound like a “well-regulated militia” to me. Consider Canada: It’s a culture that is not that tremendously different from ours. They has their share of mental health issues. Their young people watch violent movies and play violent video games. Yet the per capita rate of gun homicides in Canada is ONE-SIXTH our rate in the United States. So what is it that Canada is doing right? The gun violence problem in the United States is attributable to only one thing: The easy availability of guns. I think it’s very sad that there are actually more gun retailers in United States then there are libraries and museums.

    • FreedomAK says:

Yep. 2A says we have the inherent and intrinsic God-given right to own however many and whatever type firearm we want. As far accountability goes, that’s covered under a myriad of criminal laws governing the illegal use of firearms, which of course criminals ignore. Criminal ignore laws when a society values the criminal over the law-abiding citizen. So rights are stripped from the law abiding in order to build demographic equity. Cool huh? Sounds like you fit in with the equity crowd. If you’re afraid of firearms I suggest moving to Canada or some other place where you’ll be protected by the good will and whims of evil people bent on committing crimes. Did you also berate people for not wearing their mask properly during public lockdowns too?

    • Proud Alaskan says:

Chuck, Maybe you should move to Canada bye

    • Toscano says:

Chuck Anziulewcz is an NPR radio announcer and troll, operating out of West VA, and is a prime example of a liberal who goes through conservative websites to create confusion.

      • Colorado Conservative says:

Having seen many of Chuck Anziulewcz’s posts here on Watchman articles I thank you for this information. Will know to avoid this leftist troll from now on out.

    • David Shoemaker says:

      Wrong sir. Wrong.
If my child is repeatedly trying to jump off the roof utilizing a cape to fly, I do not take away the cape and assume the problem is solved.
The issue is that our education system and core value sets in the home are saturated with mentally flawed teachings that are manufacturing mentally weak and disturbed individuals. Rest assured that these individuals will continue to rise up with or with out guns and will be successful in destroying our basic safeties and freedoms. They already have. Just look at all the rioting and looting. It is the same people. It is the utopian ideas of Marxism that have taken over the Democrat party. It is no longer a rational party that offers a good balance of ideas in our society. It is now an extreme movement focused on tearing apart the fabric of our governmental system of checks and balances that were all originally established from the wise council granted to us through the moral foundation of Christianity. That has been taken away. so here we are. Morality established, defined, and routed in what. Our own ideas of utopia? So yes, the mental issues will continue.
Capable weapons in the hands of a strong man are a problem .
The worse it gets the more I will build my capability to defend against it. I will not be told I cannot do so.

      • Lucinda says:

David. There’s another edge to the terror of guns in America. Consider normal sane people that are confronted by some feeble exposure to someone they fear. Normally, they would argue or curse or even fight, but because they have pistol, that becomes the first response. What happens. We have an 84 year old man murder a stellar teenager cuz the boy was Black. A man murders a teenage cheerleader because she mistook a car for her own. Someone drives up the wrong rural driveway and is murdered. If these low-life’s DID NOT HAVE GUNS so readily available, all those victims would still be alive.

You should be embarrassed for bringing your Christian religion into the discussion. Nothing breeds fear and violence quite like the arrogant presumed moral superiority of Christians defending their lithic beliefs.

    • Mike says:

Hey Chuck…stay down there in trollville. We are doing just fine, thanks.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

A well-regulated militia does not mean that it is regulated by the government. “Well-regulated” means effective or competent or to work. Back when the constitution was written, the militia was made up of the people – not a government. So, a well-regulated militia was an effective, competent group people that had arms, ammunition and supplies to be effective. The people had to supply their own supplies to be part of the militia. Chuck, your usage of the phrase, “well-regulated militia” seems to be incorrect.

    • DoneWithIt says:

Chuck, time for another booster shot.

    • Marlin Savage says:

The issue is Mental Health, not guns.

Perhaps Canada is addressing Mental Health.

  • Carol Allums says:

This is crap. I want to know who let the dogs in?

  • Steve Skinner says:

Mr. McClure, I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and helping us stay informed. It is aggravating however to read such an article and the author not naming the names. On a topic such as this please NAME NAMES, especially if you are advocating a “call to action” such as calling these legislators and expressing our concern and disapproval. This is really directed to any and all authors, if you write about a house bill please include the names of the responsible.

  • Richard K CORBeil says:

So, does this eliminate constitutional carry? There was no mention of it and it seems that this law would be diametrically opposed the existing laws without changing them.

  • Lucinda says:

Extremist gun advocates like McClure must be willing to yield. Rigid opposition to ANY sensible restriction on the availability of weapons and user qualifications leads to one future: continued episodes of unthinkable and unbearable tragedy. It’s undeniable.

Here’s a description of the horror at Sandy Hook published in the New York Times recently : “They were going to show him right in the center of the nightmare where they had been working the past hellish week. So he could see it and smell it and feel it under his shoes. So he could see how 80 rounds fired into a three-by-four-foot bathroom trenched the cinder block. How 16 children crammed in that tightly had not had the space to fall where they stood. How innocence could be transformed to gore in an instant.”

McClure and those who protect guns more than children are complicit in this horror.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Lucinda, there you go again using your lefty trigger words and telling the lies that the left repeats over and over and over and over. So many people know the truth and what you just wrote contains absolutely ZERO truth. So glad that we still have freedom of speech and ability to share truth so that people do not fall into the trap of believing the lies that you and others keep spewing.

      • Lucinda says:

: “They were going to show him right in the center of the nightmare where they had been working the past hellish week. So he could see it and smell it and feel it under his shoes. How do you feel about that Friend?

That’s cuz of gun availability Friend. More guns more death. I don’t expect you to grasp any of this horror because your previous posts have demonstrated that you are immune to rational thought. And maybe compassion too.

      • Friend of Humanity says:

Once again Lucinda, all lies…all lies. You need to quit listening to mainstream media.

    • DoneWithIt says:

Lucinda, your and the rest of the LibTards NEVER talk about limiting guns for the security of the politicians, banks, jewelry stores – but the most vulnerable and valuable in our society – innocent, vulnerable children – they REFUSE to provide any kind of armed protection.
      capital F you.

  • Miquel says:

    These people live among us.

  • ML says:

When will those with defective minds understand that there is no Gun Violence, there is people violence! Human life is cheap these days. Children have not received instruction from their parents about right and wrong, the golden rule, and yes, good Christian values. In addition there are no real consequences for taking a human life. If these misguide souls new they would be sent to the chair, firing squad, or lethal injection for killing another, you can bet they’d have a second thoughts about the matter. The Constitution is not a document that is a work in progress. However, are brain dead liberals that continue to attack our rights by chipping around the fringes of our rights. We must be vigilant and swat down anyone who would endeavor to attempt to manipulate Bills, that would chip away at this nations’ fundamental rights.

Good for you Alaskans! Fight for your gun rights! Do not give an inch or they will take a mile! I’m in California and when I was young it was a free state with regard to firearms. Now it’s a firearms nightmare and I don’t know how we got here. Put a stop to the left now or else you’ll be like Oregon, Washington, and California before you know it. Start by getting rid of that ranked vote system and those disgusting drag shows for kids. Never have a constitutional convention because there will be no predictable outcome. It could go all bad. I’m hoping to be an Alaskan someday and I will be heart broken if Alaska falls. Your isolated capital is being invaded by left wing globalist policies. they don’t share your beliefs.

    • Shelia says:

Good reply, Cliff! And so true! But you forgot that the so-called “citizens” of California, Oregon, Washington State and other democrat run states like New York also make it almost impossible to defend yourself if robbed, or confronted by a criminal with his own gun-illegally bought on the black market of course. If you do defend yourself you are likely to be tried and convicted in court unless there is a large demand for you to be let go like that New York store clerk. Please Alaska listen and don’t let Alaska fall like most of the lower 48.

Right, they’ll just try to shoot us dead when they do come to try to take our guns. We know how this all works. Good try lefty minion. We know that the Constitution mandates that no one shall be “deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law” and we are going to defend our Constitution.

As long as the Legislature is in Juneau, this type of legislation and LGBTQ supporting legislation will continue.
