The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Alaska is doubling down on its legal war against the Mat-Su School District’s policies pertaining to students who claim to be LGBTQ.
On Jan. 31, the far-left legal organization filed litigation in the Palmer Superior Court, asking the court to rule against a Mat-Su School District policy and let a gender-confused elementary girl, who thinks she’s male, use the boys’ bathroom and locker rooms.
The Mat-Su School Board approved a policy back in 2022, which requires students to use bathrooms that conform with their biological sex, as recorded at birth. The policy also lets students use single-occupancy bathrooms as an alternative.
That’s not good enough, however, for the ACLU or the parents of the gender-confused girl.
The ACLU is representing the girl’s parents, who actively affirm their daughter’s gender confusion and call her by her preferred pronouns and masculine-sounding nickname.
According to the legal complaint, the parents believe their daughter is subject to unwarranted mental distress by not being able to use the bathroom and changing rooms that are designated for boys.
In attempting to argue that the girl is actually a boy, the ACLU legal complaint asserts that the girl – at age two – began thinking that boys were “better” than girls and she refused to wear girls’ clothes.
The complain claims the school district’s policy violates the Alaska Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause because it treats transgender-identifying “boys” differently than biological boys.
According to the ACLU, trans “boys” and biological boys are “similarly situated,” and therefore cannot be treated differently simply because the trans “boys” are actually biological females. This was the same line of augmentation used in 2014 to convince the Alaska Supreme Court to rule that Alaska must recognize gay “marriage.”
Additionally, the ACLU claims the Mat-Su policy violates the Privacy Clause in the State Constitution, by forcing the girl to effectively “out” herself as a female every time she uses the alternative bathrooms.
In actuality, the right to privacy section adopted back in 1972. The purpose was to protect Alaskans against invasive, personal data mining at the dawn of the computer age. It never mentions gender-identity or sexuality, but it has been interpreted by the Alaska Supreme Court as guaranteeing a constitutional right to abortion.
The ACLU’s legal case taps into this controversial interpretation of the law and seeks to use the Privacy Clause as justification for forcing the school district to let the gender-confused student use whichever bathrooms she pleases.
In attempting to argue that the girl is actually a boy, the ACLU legal complaint asserts that the girl – at age two – began thinking that boys were “better” than girls and she refused to wear girls’ clothes.
She also didn’t like to be called “pretty,” the complaint notes, and cut her hair short at age three. As an older child, she didn’t want to play on the girls’ soccer team anymore.

Eventually, her parents began asking what her preferred pronouns were, and started calling their daughter by a boy’s name at age seven.
While the lawsuit doesn’t reveal the girl’s name or age, it states that she began to “consistently” use her “chosen boy’s name since July 2023,” while “wearing more traditionally masculine clothing, and sporting a short boy haircut.”
While studies have shown that 80% of gender-confused kids grow out of this passing phase before adulthood, the ACLU wants the court to force teachers, staff and students to indulge the girl’s belief that she is somehow a boy.
This is the second major legal battle the ACLU has launched against the Mat-Su District. In November, it filed a lawsuit claiming that the district’s temporary removal of 56 sexually explicit books from district library shelves was unconstitutional. A court date for that case has not been set.

Exactly. One spoiled child is going to be aloud to dictate what the whole district and all other families must put up with. I think not! ACLU needs to be told to go bite the wall. I hope the district stands up to those deluded bullies.
Make sure to use a bullhorn when you tell em! Our voices apparently aren’t being heard as evidenced when telling librarians to keep their pornography in their locker’s! No leadership, hushed voices, no influence, equals the victimization of children! This has become intolerable!

A 7 year old who throws fits when she doesn’t get her way… sounds like every other 7 year old to me… only this one is in charge of her parents, and not the other way around.
It is morally irresponsible that so many parents think this is the cool thing to do- to have such a “confused” kid they pander to. How this isn’t considered to be psychological or physical abuse by others is beyond me. This little girl deserves better than the parents or other adults in her life.
Sadly, this is a fad that has grown wings to take off. As parents we have watched it with so many other parenting fads. Only this one should make everyone want to barf.
For the record. A LOT of us have daughters that aren’t into overtly girly things like sparkles and dolls. They are still girls. Girls who are being raised in the Last Frontier can know how to make sourdough pancakes AND jumpstart their truck. They can wear a fur coat AND Carhartt Camouflage bibs. This doesn’t mean they are confused about their gender or that they need a whole other bathroom, because the other THREE aren’t good enough.
All the other countries in the world are laughing their boots off at Americans right now. This is the best we can do?

Transgender Americans, no matter what age, are just as entitled to such accommdation as you are. It’s bad enough that such kids have to face derision from their communities and ostracization by classmates.

A diagnosis of gender dysphoria means the youth should be allowed to live and -BE TREATED- as the gender they express. That is both the treatment and cure for gender dysphoria.

There is 1 school district in the nation that does in fact store cat litter. It has nothing to do whatsoever with people identifying as cats. Its the district where Columbine High School is, and they stock an emergency supply of litter in case of an active shooter situation where they have to barricade themselves in.

This is just another “legal test case” where parents are being paid to challenge our decency laws and God’s law. Believe it or not God put the statutes in place to protect us but rebellious God haters (Marxists) want lawlessness and chaos. God is the author of order. Satan is the author of chaos. If the young child has gender dysphoria then conversion therapy is the answer not forcing the rest of us into a deadly lifestyle choice. Dysphoria is real and correctable with counseling. If these parents really, truly want to help their confused child, then they need to help her come back to God, Science and common sense in that order.
