The Anchorage chapter of Students for Life is set to rally outside the Anchorage offices of U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, as part of a nation-wide effort to urge federal lawmakers to end tax-payer funded abortion and defund the abortion giant – Planned Parenthood.

“Please join our local Students for Life groups in this Prayer Vigil!” a notice for the June 17 rally states. “We’re praying for Senators Murkowski and Sullivan to vote to defund Planned Parenthood, the organization that ends the lives of 400,000 unborn children every year – using billions of our tax dollars.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring homemade signs.

“Those who choose to can also draw positive prolife chalk messages on the public sidewalk downtown!” the notice adds. “This is an entirely legal activity promoted by several nationwide prolife groups. We will have some sidewalk chalk available but bring some if you can!”

The rally begins at 1 p.m. at 510 L Street in downtown Anchorage. It is organized by the Students For Life groups based out of Holy Rosary Academy and Lumen Christi High School, but the vigil  is open to all pro-life advocates.

I hope the little urchins from Catholic schools are also willing to pay for the hospital births, schooling, medical feeding and housing all of the unwanted, accidental pregnancies if abortion is not allowed nor funded. Republicans and Catholics only love them until they’re born! Of course for the really desperate women back alley butchers can take care of the problem instead of Planned Parenthood and private physicians.

    • Tamra Nygaard says:

This sort of ignorance is what fuels the murder industry. It is a lie, pure and simple. Have you visited a women’s care center? Have you seen the baby clothes, baby food, baby furniture, parenting classes, and other support services provided free of charge to any woman in any circumstance? And for the record, I adopted my child, so I am very glad his birth mother decided he was worthy to live. Adoption is the humane method, not murder. If you need me to adopt yours, give me a call.

      • Proud Alaskan says:

That is so Awesome adoption, I have always said to people in these circumstances. Your baby will be loved by someone, yes thanks to all, for not killing your babies.

    • Gianna, Gerard, and Joseph says:

Based on that logic do you then advocate for the murder of any who live at the expense of others, such as senior citizens, the disabled, the poor? Or is it only the murder of unborn humans who can’t defend themselves or have a dissenting voice against their own annihilation that you support? Do YOU receive any benefits from anywhere?

      • FreedomAK says:

The logic is in protecting life. Nothing more. Once you have life, you make of it what you will. Life.

My parents -both raised as urchins from Catholic schools- had children together and adopted children with special needs. In fact, many of the Catholic families I knew growing up adopted children, many of whom had special needs. Just because you may not personally know any Republicans or Catholics who love All Three -Mom, Dad, and Baby- born or unborn, doesn’t mean they don’t exist! And Tamra makes a good point: visit CPC sometime and find out just how much love and compassion, not to mention goods and services, await those in difficult circumstances while pregnant.

Jonathan Swift wrote an essay that you might appreciate, called “A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor People from Being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Publick,” also known as “A Modest Proposal.”
When he wrote it, it was considered satire. Sadly, it now reads more like a Planned Parenthood playbook.

  • Proud Alaskan says:

Lisa is a loser, she supports the killing of Innocent life’s.

  • Steve says:

I wish these informed future voters god-speed in convincing Lisa to de-fund Planned Parenthood, aka Planned Murderhood. Lisa would either vote; present, or not show for the vote before she’d ever stop a major donor from doing what they do. She’s bought, and a lot of her supporters are hooked on all that Federal Money, aka your children’s retirement accounts that she spends on their behalf.

  • Manny Mullen says:

Sadly for these protestors, nothing fails as reliably as prayer.

    • Ok in Anchorage says:

Are you Jeff Butler in disguise?

    • FreedomAK says:

Maybe it’s what you pray for and your motivation. I’m old now and thank my Father God for unanswered prayers every single day. Pray in all things and eventually you’ll see the plan unfold. This place isn’t heaven if you haven’t noticed.

  • David Frazier says:

Planned Parenthood is an oxymoron term. It should not be supported by public tax dollars. It can stand on its own and beg for dollars like every other non-profit. The tide is turning on this immoral institution.

  • jon says:

I don’t know whether or not Lisa Murkowski approves of Planned Parenthood, but she is one Republican in the Senate who will make her own decision and not bow to pressure from others.

  • Mark Carty says:

Ending the Life of a human, man or woman, that is Planned for intentionally ending it is
    Murder.
