Fairbanks will join what has grown into a nationwide call to federally defund abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood.

On June 3, Fairbanks residents are set to gather outside the U.S. Federal Building (101 12 St.), where U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan have local offices, to urge the lawmakers to back President Trump’s effort to end taxpayer support for groups that provide abortion.

“We will be praying for them to vote in favor of Trump’s bill to DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD and anything else we feel led to pray for,” an email alert about the upcoming rally states. “Planned Parenthood has been relying on these funds for many years in order to stay open as they target minorities, students and people in poor communities to abort their children.”

A federal funding bill, which passed out of the U.S. House on a 215-214 vote, is now in the Senate, where lawmakers are expected to make some amendments. Pro-lifers are hoping the Senate will keep a provision that excludes abortion providers from receiving federal taxpayer funds.

“If this bill passes, it’s a HUGE game changer and it will help to shut down many more Planned Parenthood abortion mills, and that will save countless lives,” the Fairbanks alert states. “The more people that come, the more Sullivan and Murkowski will notice and hear us.”

Past experience shows that Republicans and Christians only love the fetuses until they are born. Then, the love ( and money needed to support all of these unwanted children ) dries up.

    • Proud Alaskan says:

      David you’re SO WRONG.
There are so many couples out there, that can’t have children and will adopt these children. If you would just stop the killing of an innocent life/child.
No money needed from You are the government,
These adopted couples will feed and cloth and LOVE their little one.

    • Give life a chance says:

Believe it or not Davey Jones, it is not Republicans or Christian’s responsibility to take care of other people’s kids. That is the parents job! What kind of twisted thinking are you doing man? A man and a woman have intercourse and it leads pregnancy. That is on that man and woman, not the church, not a political affiliation. The parents.
Sex can lead to pregnancy, which can birth new life which is a beautiful thing for many loving parents. It is only the soulless psychopaths that fornicate for self gratification and slay their offspring out of convenience. It sounds like it is you, Davey Jones, who does not love the child.
      What a monster you are.

    • Gianna, Gerard, and Joseph says:

Based on that logic do you then advocate for the murder of any who live at the expense of others, such as senior citizens, the disabled, the poor? Or is it only the murder of unborn humans who can’t defend themselves or have a dissenting voice against their own annihilation that you support? Do YOU receive any benefits from anywhere?

  • Proud Alaskan says:

Lisa supports the killing of the unborn.
Mark my words, she will vote against this bill, that saves lives.

  • Manny Mullen says:

Good for everyone who are taking part in the foundation of American democracy, but why do you think prayer will have any impact? Nothing fails as reliably as prayer. It cannot work. Keep hammering your representatives – that’s where your power is.

    • Steve says:

Manny, you are one sick little girl.

    • Siddhartha G. says:

And Manny continues the assault on and disparagement of the positive spiritual and psychological benefits of faith for those who embrace it.
Instead of criticizing others’ faith perhaps you should endeavor to live by a foundational principle offered by one much, much wiser than yourself:

If men could get pregnant there would be a drive through abortion clinic next to every Bass Pro Shop in the country.
