Thomas Loving, the morning host of KVNT 1020 AM (92.5 FM and 104.5 FM), died unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, May 13, at his home in the Anchorage area. He was 63. Loving had stepped into the prominent morning slot after the previous host, Dan Fagan, passed away in 2025. His sudden death leaves a gap in Southcentral Alaska’s conservative talk radio landscape.

A dedicated broadcaster and longtime volunteer, Loving brought clear convictions and local insight to the airwaves. Previously the station’s afternoon host, he transitioned to mornings (7-9 a.m. Alaska time) and quickly became known for in-depth discussions on local, state, and national politics. Listeners appreciated his straightforward style. He never left ambiguity about where he stood on candidates or issues.

Christian Broadcasting, Inc. CEO Tom Steigleman praised Loving’s contributions: “KVNT is our conservative news-talk station and Thomas did a great job on the Morning Show with his knowledge of local, state, and national politics. You never had to wonder where Thomas stood on a political issue or a candidate, but more importantly, he was a believer, and his family, friends, and listeners knew exactly where Thomas stood concerning our Savior Jesus Christ.” Steigleman urged prayers for Loving’s family.

Loving’s faith shaped both his personal life and public work. For decades, he volunteered at Mountain City Church in Anchorage, serving as the Sunday morning television Technical Director for the church’s television ministry. His commitment reflected a deep evangelical Christian worldview that informed his commentary.

On key social and cultural issues, Loving held firm traditional positions. He was strongly pro-life and saw abortion as part of a broader “woke evil agenda” that he believed provoked divine judgment. He opposed the normalization of LGBTQ ideology, particularly its targeting of children, and he criticized “gay parades” and cross-sex interventions such as puberty blockers and chemical castration of gender-confused minors. He also upheld the biblical view of marriage as between one man and one woman.

Loving championed religious freedom, parental rights, and school choice. He supported expanding educational options to empower families over failing government-run education systems. A strong Second Amendment advocate, he backed concealed carry for qualified school staff and resisted gun-control measures. He frequently warned against cultural Marxism, “woke” policies in schools, and government overreach, framing political battles through a biblical lens of limited government and moral clarity.

Loving’s passing follows closely on the heels of Dan Fagan’s death, marking a difficult season for KVNT and its audience.

In Alaska’s conservative media circles, he represented an unapologetic voice that blended local concerns with national principles. Whether discussing state politics, veterans’ issues, or cultural shifts, he prioritized truth as he saw it through his Christian convictions.

Thomas Lovings, your voice will be missed in Alaska. Thank you for your courage in telling it like it is. We can omit the quotation marks around woke evil agenda, for my part.
