Alaska’s Education Department is organizing a conference that includes a featured talk by a man best known for his controversial drag queen performances in front of young children and throughout Anchorage’s gay bar scene.
Brooks Banker regularly performs as “Goldie Delicious” – a buxom, bearded drag queen. This month, however, he will speak to educators about various grooming tactics used by child sex offenders during his talk at the annual Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit, Sept. 16-17, in Anchorage.
Banker will swap his sexually suggestive drag costume for more professional attire when speaking to Alaska educators, emphasizing his work as a violence prevention educator with STAR (Standing Together Against Rape).
Before that, he was a youth outreach programmer for the LGBTQ activist group, Identity. He is also heavily involved with a group called “Drag For a Cause.” The organization’s Facebook page notes that he has been “performing bearded drag for 18 years.”
“When the wig comes off they continue advocating for their community with their work as a Violence Prevention Specialist and Educator,” Drag For a Cause says of Banker.
A description of Banker’s upcoming talk notes that he will explore a “trauma-informed approach” to help educators recognize “concerning behaviors and warning signs” along with “offender grooming tactics, and the growing risks children face in online environments.”

Banker’s speaker bio describes him as a “prevention and education specialist,” but fails to mention his long history of performing drag shows in front of young children while wearing tight-fitting and revealing clothing, heavy makeup, and exaggerated fake breasts.
Banker’s drag exploits, however, are well known by state employees. Last year, the Alaska Department of Health scheduled him to speak to teenagers about “bullying” during the Alaska Youth Suicide Prevention Summit.
Hours after the Alaska Watchman published a story about Banker’s LGBTQ activism, the 2025 event organizers cancelled his talk.
In 2022, however, Banker spoke at another state-sponsored conference where he told teens that gender is really a “spectrum” of diverse identities and that they needed to be aware of perceived “inequities” experienced by the LGBTQ2IA+ community, while actively supporting those who claim to have alternative genders.
Now, the Alaska Department of Education is giving Banker, whose Instagram account describes him as a “Lip Quivering Queen,” another shot at influencing young minds by imparting his wisdom to classroom teachers charged with educating Alaska’s public school children.
Educational leaders, key staff, and strategic stakeholders will attend the upcoming conference, including representatives from every district across the state.
According to the summit website, the goal of this year’s event is to “improve academic success” by addressing a host of health and safety issues, including media literacy, internet safety, teen vaping, social-emotional learning, student belonging and much more.
Sponsors of the summit include Safe Schools Alaska, State of Alaska Dept. of Health, NEA-Alaska, Alaska Staff Development Network, American Lung Assoc., UAA School of Psychology, Brightways Learning and Goldstream Group.

It looks like he will be presenting on how teachers can make mandated reports and intervene if there is harm. Are you saying that teachers should not be taught about child safety? I am so confused. I thought that you were for the protection of children.

So, you are assuming because he does drag he is automatically a child predator? He isn’t presenting in drag, but presenting as a professional in his field.
Prostitutes present themselves as professionals in their field but in no way am I inviting them into my circle for educational purposes.
Let adult entertainment remain adult and allow children to remain innocence as long as they can. God knows that predators are everywhere seeking to defile the soul. No sense in inviting them in preemptively.
Dearest Lyn, it isn’t the fact that Brooks is a drag performer that makes him a predator. No, it is the fact that he dresses up as the opposite sex and gyrates in front of an audience of children that makes him a predator. What he is doing is actively grooming the next generation of audience. For without an audience, he has no other means of income. Perhaps if Brooks didn’t pigeonhole himself into a singular identity (LGBTwhatever), he could have diversified his talents and made something of himself that contributes to society in a healthier way that would actually benefit those around him, not just the members of his sex cult.

People like Brooks live off the attention and tips of others. Their life requires human attention to exist. Without human attention, they would go broke and would be homeless. With the current environment becoming more hostile against child predation, it is only self preservation that motivates Brooks to adapt and change his colors.

While Brooks is out trying to build safer spaces for people, this author is attempting to defame him by alluding untoward behavior. Calling Goldies outfits sexually suggestive? Drag used to be cool, back in the days when the drag queens actually tried to look like women, rather than overly sexualized clownish caricatures of women. Clearly YOU have no idea what drag actually is/was. Now it is just another platform for some mentally ill people to show their anger at the world and themselves. I almost feel sorry for them. I have friends who do the drag queen stuff, and they would no more do their thing in front of children, nor do they look and act trashy. I helped one of them learn to walk like a female, and he is quite convincing when he is dressed up…until his five o’clock shadow starts creeping in, lol. My friends have class…not crass like these new ones that look like garish clowns.

As I am a heteronormative person, I am just living minding my own business. However people like Brooks work overtime to protest people like me simply for existing.

It is my understanding this person was not on the approved state conference list. Liberals are very good at slipping things in like this. Thanks Watchman for keeping us posted. My understanding is they are no longer invited. Problem is they will find other ways!
