Alaska’s Education Department is organizing a conference that includes a featured talk by a man best known for his controversial drag queen performances in front of young children and throughout Anchorage’s gay bar scene.

Brooks Banker regularly performs as “Goldie Delicious” – a buxom, bearded drag queen. This month, however, he will speak to educators about various grooming tactics used by child sex offenders during his talk at the annual Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit, Sept. 16-17, in Anchorage.

Banker will swap his sexually suggestive drag costume for more professional attire when speaking to Alaska educators, emphasizing his work as a violence prevention educator with STAR (Standing Together Against Rape).

Before that, he was a youth outreach programmer for the LGBTQ activist group, Identity. He is also heavily involved with a group called “Drag For a Cause.” The organization’s Facebook page notes that he has been “performing bearded drag for 18 years.”

“When the wig comes off they continue advocating for their community with their work as a Violence Prevention Specialist and Educator,” Drag For a Cause says of Banker.

A description of Banker’s upcoming talk notes that he will explore a “trauma-informed approach” to help educators recognize “concerning behaviors and warning signs” along with “offender grooming tactics, and the growing risks children face in online environments.”

Banker’s speaker bio describes him as a “prevention and education specialist,” but fails to mention his long history of performing drag shows in front of young children while wearing tight-fitting and revealing clothing, heavy makeup, and exaggerated fake breasts.

Banker’s drag exploits, however, are well known by state employees. Last year, the Alaska Department of Health scheduled him to speak to teenagers about “bullying” during the Alaska Youth Suicide Prevention Summit.

Hours after the Alaska Watchman published a story about Banker’s LGBTQ activism, the 2025 event organizers cancelled his talk.

In 2022, however, Banker spoke at another state-sponsored conference where he told teens that gender is really a “spectrum” of diverse identities and that they needed to be aware of perceived “inequities” experienced by the LGBTQ2IA+ community, while actively supporting those who claim to have alternative genders.

Now, the Alaska Department of Education is giving Banker, whose Instagram account describes him as a “Lip Quivering Queen,” another shot at influencing young minds by imparting his wisdom to classroom teachers charged with educating Alaska’s public school children.

Educational leaders, key staff, and strategic stakeholders will attend the upcoming conference, including representatives from every district across the state.

According to the summit website, the goal of this year’s event is to “improve academic success” by addressing a host of health and safety issues, including media literacy, internet safety, teen vaping, social-emotional learning, student belonging and much more.
