There’s an opening for a judge in the Fairbanks District Court. The Alaska Judicial Council is taking applications for the post due to the upcoming retirement of Judge Patrick Hammers.

Those interested can apply online here. Completed applications must be received by 3 p.m. on April 3.

To qualify, applicants must be familiar with Alaska law, procedure and trial practice, a citizen of the U.S. and state of Alaska, and at least 21 years old. They also need to have lived in Alaska for the last five years, and engaged in active practice of the law for no less than the past three years, or have served a minimum of seven years as a state judge.

All applicants must be graduates of a law school accredited by the Council of Legal Education of the American Bar Association or the Association of American Law Schools.
