Governors in Alaska and around the country regularly issue scores of proclamations to raise awareness of various causes throughout the year. Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy has already issued 53 proclamations in 2026 – highlighting causes like “Safe Boating,” “Agriculture Day,” “Mental Health Awareness Month,” “Alaska Native Plant Month,” “National Day of Prayer,” “Safe Digging Month,” and much more.

Several other governors, however, have decided to use their proclamation powers to push back on the LGBTQ movement’s commandeering of June as “Pride Month.”

To date, five conservative governors have officially reclaimed June as a month to promote traditional values surrounding marriage and family. This includes Tennessee, Indiana, Arkansas, Utah and Alabama.

Tennessee’s resolution designates June as “Nuclear Family Month,” defining it as the relationship of one husband and one wife, and their biological, adopted or foster children. The resolution affirms that the nuclear family is “God’s design” and the foundational building block of society.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun also proclaimed June “Nuclear Family Month,” emphasizing the proven benefits of children being raised by married biological parents.

Likewise, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey declared June “Strong Families Month,” highlighting the importance of fathers and mothers in raising children.

Meanwhile, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Utah Governor Spencer Cox proclaimed June as “Fidelity Month,” putting the focus on fidelity to God, family, country, and community.

These proclamations stand as a counter narrative to the slew of Pride Month parades, events and statements, which are aimed at undermining traditional understandings of marriage, family, sexuality and even human identity.

The observances promote faith, patriotism, virtue, and stable family structures as essential to a healthy society.
