The annual July 4th fireworks show is a go in Juneau. Funded in part by the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ), the event will require all spectators to wear a face covering and maintain at least six feet from non-household members.
The Juneau Assembly gave the green light on the show during its June 22 meeting. An emergency ordinance mandating the use of a face covering during the fireworks display will be discussed at the June 29 Assembly meeting.

A notice from the CBJ encourages face coverings at the event, stating that “large events where people are in close proximity to each other pose a greater risk of spreading COVID-19. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person-to-person through talking, singing, coughing, sneezing, etc.”
The yearly event is run by Juneau Festival Association, a volunteer group. The first firework will fire launch on July 3 at 11:59 p.m. Those who want to fire off their own fireworks can do so on July 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and July 4 from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
