Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) has picked up a key endorsement from the National Rifle Association.
Announced on July 13, the endorsement praises Sullivan’s commitment to defending the Second Amendment and protecting Alaska’s hunters, sportsmen, and gun owners.
“Thank you for standing strong for freedom and defending NRA members and law-abiding gun owners in Alaska and throughout the United States, NRA Political Victory Fund Chairman John Commerford stated in the endorsement letter. “Based on your leadership protecting the Second Amendment in the Senate, you have earned an ‘A+’ rating from the NRA-PVF for this election. An ‘A+’ is reserved for a legislator with not only an excellent voting record on all critical NRA issues, but who has made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.”
Sullivan said he was honored to pick up the endorsement.
“The Second Amendment is a fundamental constitutional right, and Alaskans understand that better than anyone,” he noted. “I will always fight to protect the rights of Alaska’s gun owners, defend our hunting heritage, and stand up to those who want to undermine our constitutional freedoms. I’ll never stop working to ensure the next generation of Alaskans enjoys the same liberties that have defined our state from the beginning.”

Sullivan’s campaign spokesperson, Nate Adams, contrasted the senator’s record with that of his main opponent, Democrat Mary Peltola, whom he called “hand-picked by anti-Second Amendment Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.”
“Peltola has pledged her loyalty to Schumer, and her first vote in the Senate, if elected, would be to make Schumer the Senate Majority Leader,” Adams observed. “This would be a disaster for our Second Amendment rights and for the great state of Alaska.”
The NRA endorsement is part of a growing list of organizations and leaders supporting Senator Sullivan’s re-election campaign. Other backers include Americans For Prosperity Action, Concerned Veterans for America Action, Alaska Teamsters, Alaska District Council of Laborers and International Union of Operating Engineers, among many others.
