Three Alaskans have joined President Trump and more than 500 participants for a week-long Bible reading marathon in Washington D.C.
The America Reads the Bible is taking place at the Museum of the Bible with aim of publicly proclaiming the Bible from Genesis to Revelation over a period of seven days.
One of the goals is to affirm that the nation was founded on biblical principles, which can guide the nation into truth and justice.
Several Alaskans joined the reading effort at the nation’s capital, including former Alaska Lt. Gov. Loren Leman, constitutional coach Loran Baxter, of the Great Land in the Great Commission, and Kim Minnery, of the Alaska Family Council.
President Trump and U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson were among the readers, as were a number of sitting governors and other influencers.
Trump read a passage from 2 Chronicles 7:11-22, which included the classic chapter 7, verse 14 passage, “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson led off the event last Saturday, affirming that it was time to rededicate the nation to the founding principles of the country.
Prior to the reading, Trump commemorated 250 years of the Bible in America and extended his best wishes to the readers, stating that “in every generation, through every trial and triumph, God’s Word has guided our people and our country to incredible new heights.”
